Barbara Streiff is a multidisciplinary artist. She studied first art in Paris and later at the Zurich University of the Arts. She moves freely between analog and digital art. Streiff’s artistic journey has taken her to exhibitions and residencies across Europe, the United States, Brazil, China, and Russia.
I am planning to create my next book (catalogue raisonné). It will be a collection of monographs by curators and art journalists, accompanied by images of the ink paintings on newspapers collected around the world.
The project began in 1999 with “Waiting with Images” in the waiting room of Glarus train station. An article on the performance by curator Valerie Favre-Accola appeared during the World Economic Forum (WEF) in 2007. She paints everyday scenes in ink on the local daily newspaper. When an individual person is documented in a moment of concentration and simultaneously merges with the day’s news and global events printed on the newspaper, a time document is created. This work attempts to show that each individual is part of society, politics, and world affairs. (shortened)
